I am not really sure what this video is about. We have lots of benchmarks now and we know where this cpu stands

My issues so far: 1/ My VPN does not work. 2/ I use Google Drive for my docs, but that does not install. 3/ My 2-3 month-old printer has no drivers and is a paper-weight. 4/ I wanted to dual-boot to Linux but the bootloader is locked. 5/ No eGPU support is a downer as the iGPU is weak. 6/ Many pro apps like Adobe do not work. 7/ Games are poor, and most do not load (anti-cheat). 8/ AI is marketing spiel. Nothing really useful, and the Recall was postponed. 9/ Pricing is too high compared to AMD and Intel alternatives. 10/ Battery life when not watching media is not close to what was marketed. I recommend waiting for AMD and Intel machines in the next 1-3 months, as they will not have these issues and have far superior GPUs.

Apple silicon launch was also façade! Snapdragon X Elite benchmark is out people are impressed. Go get your hands on before so much hates.

There has been a few things to garner over the last week with this; -SDX is not equivalent to an M3. -It's 3D performance is abysmal to the competition x86 or M series. -It's battery life is okay, but still not to the level of M3 laptops. -Copilot is a garbage feature. -They are charging like they are Apple. -Windows is probably the reason the chip struggles so hard. It would be interesting to see it bench with Linux.

The benchmarks I have run actually have been crazy good so far. Only a 10-30% slowdown when using the emulation layer, and native code seems to run almost as fast (sometimes faster) than my 13700k dev machine. But with like 8 times lower power draw, its actually kind of nuts.

Almost all performance variance seems to stem from two things: The confusing Windows power plan/power mode mess, and reviewers not understanding the difference between native ARM and translated x86 applications. On a hardware level, the X Elite does seem to deliver almost exactly what SD promised. Performance is Apple M3 level, and very energy efficient.

Not even Microsoft's own Minesweeper runs natively on ARM/Snapdragon, let alone any other Microsoft game. Shows how much they care about their own product if they don't even recompile effing Minesweeper (remember that ARM Surface tablets exist since over a decade). Qualcomm probably paid Microsoft to release Surface and an updated port of Windows.

No benchmarks = it's not as good as advertised.

Both current AMD and Intel's 1st gen NPU chips wont make Copilot+, and have to rely on their upcoming new generations later this year. I feel it is MS that is lagging here. I have over 10x the required Copilot+ power in my PC already for over a year, but it will be a waiting game for MS to get around to implementing support. I don't even know if I want Copilot+ features. Even if these Snapdragon CPUs end up beating the outgoing generations, the real fight they'll have to go against will be the impending launches. On paper, they have significant updates on their predecessors. Wait for the benchmarks! At best, Snapdragon has a small early adopter advantage before the real competition arrives.

One benchmark delay is the fact that many are designed to run in x86 Windows. e.g. in their liveblog, Tom's Hardware noted their in-house "Battery Informant" test is written in C# .NET and simply wouldn't run. They had similar problems with PCMark10 and Procyon.

why do the benchmark pc crowd not have this? it's only those iphone / macbook reviewers that got their hands on these. you know the type, soft spoken, minimalist background, videos full of useless fluff that talk a lot but doesn't say anything, no hard numbers, no real testing, at BEST some useless geekbench bs. also comparing to macs, which idgaf about, and they mac crowd probably dgaf about it either. obviously something is being hidden. thankfully i managed to find ONE guy who did actual testing. turns out this only has better battery life than AMD equivalents at near-idle usage, like browsing. on real loads, it is slower and less energy efficient. also the GPU is garbage, not even comparable to the AMD ones, and slower than even intel by a significant margin most of the time. it is slower than a steam deck for games by a lot. iirc it was a third of the frame rate in... fudge, i forgot the game. but it was at 20fps while the steam deck was 60

We should see Intel jump to programming. (SMT on RISC/CISC with SIMD on CISC.) We were supposed to see this out of Qualcomm awhile ago. (Minus the high performance CISC ISA.) TI did this SoC awhile ago. (North bridge as chipset built in. The south bridge remains as a chipset.) Intel is currently borrowing ARM's Cortex design. big.LITTLE was SMT for power.

40 TOPS in a 1500 dollar laptop is silly. A laptop with a low power AMD CPU and nvidia gpu can get 100 TOPS on the nvidia side and a few more on the AMD APU side. Costing half as much.

If the product is difficult to assess, the best way to know for certain if it's good is to buy it and test it yourself - Which I think may possibly be part of their strategy.

I think there is an issue with power plans on windows so each laptop's performwnce is widely different out of the box.
